Proving Your Property is an Eligible Self-Build

To confirm your property qualifies as a self-build, you must provide evidence from the list below.

Please read the requirements carefully, as incomplete or non-compliant evidence will result in delays or rejection of your application.

All evidence must clearly identify the applicant as the property owner.

Required Evidence

You must submit evidence of the following as proof of eligibility:

· Proof of ownership – (e.g. an Official copy of the title deeds and title plan, or contract of sale or solicitor’s letter of completion)

· Invoice(s) for major structural work (e.g. foundations, timber frames. Invoices for internal works (e.g. re-wiring, kitchen fitting) will not be accepted.)

These must clearly show the name of the individual property owner and the installation address

· Planning Permission Decision Notice Document.

Optional Supporting Documents

The following is not required but will support your application:

· Self-Build Insurance documents.

· Proof of Self-Build Financing documentation confirming a self-build VAT exemption, self-build loan, or self-build mortgage.

· Dated contract(s) between the applicant and contractor(s), and/or invoices from builders or tradespeople. Please note this will become mandatory if invoices are not in the name of property owner.

Please note: Do not send bank statements with your application.
If these are needed, Spire Renewables or Ofgem will contact you directly to request them.
