Frequently Asked Questions

What size heat pump do I need?
The size depends on your home’s insulation, area, and heating needs. Spire Renewables will conduct a heat loss calculation to determine the right unit for optimal efficiency.
What is SCOP and why does it matter?
SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient of Performance) measures heat pump efficiency over a full heating season. It is the ratio between the number of kilowatts (kW) the unit produces for every 1kW of energy used. The higher the SCOP, the more energy efficient the system.
What’s the difference between monobloc and split systems?
Monobloc systems house all components in one outdoor unit, while split systems separate them into indoor and outdoor units. Spire Renewables only specify Monobloc systems.
Can I use a heat pump with my existing radiators?
Possibly - but older radiators may need to be upsized. Heat pumps operate at lower temperatures than boilers, so compatibility depends on how your home was originally heated. Spire Renewables will calculate which radiators can stay.
What government incentives are available?
You may qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Availability varies by location and home eligibility - Spire Renewables will evaluate if the grant applies to your property.
